Theresa J. Van Luven

Theresa’s practice encompasses the areas of family law, civil litigation and estates law.

Within her family law practice, Theresa provides legal advice on all issues arising from cohabitation and marriage, including cohabitation and marriage agreements. She has extensive experience in assisting with matters resulting from the breakdown of a relationship, including divorce, custody and access of dependent children, child support, spousal support, and complex property issues including property division, the valuation of division of pensions, businesses and equitable claims based on trust principles. Her litigation work includes experience in both trial and appellate courts of Ontario. Outside of the Court system, Theresa also participates in negotiated settlements, as a certified collaborative family law lawyer.

Theresa’s Wills and estates practice includes assisting with the preparation of estate plans, including the preparation of Wills, powers of attorney, and trusts. She can also assist with estate administration and advising executors and beneficiaries, or as representation in estate litigation matters.

In addition to family and estates litigation, Theresa's abilities include representation in a wide variety of legal disputes. These include contract disputes, employment issues, and a variety of claims relating to wrongful dismissal, real property disputes, and personal injury.
